Malaria Eradication Programme 
• In Uttarakhand there are 13 districts, of which 4 Districts Haridwar, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar & Nainital are in plains and the rest of the nine districts are at high altitude. Malaria is prevalent only in plain districts. 
• Project Objective :
• To reduce Malaria mortality by 70% by year 2011 & efficient morbidity control.
• To reduce Dengue mortality by 70% by year 2011.
• To reduce JE mortality by 70% by year 2011. 

Strengths
• Malaria is present in only 4 districts out of 13 districts.
• Prevalence of Kalazar and chickengunia is nil in the State.
• JE and Dengue are also showing a downward trend.
• Under Malaria Control Programme every year the month of June is observed as Anti Malaria month and intensification of IEC and inter sectoral collaborative efforts with other Govt. Departments is done for drawing up action plan before the onset of transmission season. 
• Under training Programme for Medical Officers and paramedical staff 180 MOs were trained during the year 2007-08, 37 MOs , 121 MPW & 208 FTD/DDC were trained in 08-09 and 40 medical officers were trained during the current year. 

Weaknesses 
Shortage of manpower
• No zonal malaria officer is presently posted against 2 posts sanctioned and malaria officers are present in only 6 districts out of 13.
• There are only 202 lab technicians against the sanctioned posts of 297.
